Experience a dolphin encounter like none other - watch for and learn about Gulf Shores’ Bottlenose Dolphins in their natural environment from the intimate, unobtrusive, and non-threatening vantage point of a kayak while exploring optimal Bottlenose Dolphin habitat. Like all wild animals these dolphins can be elusive, but there is nothing like the thrill of seeing these magnificent creatures up close when they choose to show off. Either way, you will come away with an appreciation, understanding, and new found knowledge of dolphins as you learn about their life history, ecology, feeding behaviors, and communal nature.

If your a birding enthusiast, we will also visit a portion of the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge that no driving tourist can reach, as it is accessible only by kayak (or helicopter - not included :->). Join us in exploring this extraordinary haven for migratory birds, nesting Loggerhead and Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles, and the endangered Alabama Beach Mouse.

Named as one of the 10 natural wonders of Alabama, the BSNWR refuge serves the additional benefit of comprising one of the largest undeveloped parcels of land on the Alabama coast - its dunes are a reminder of the Gulf Coast, as it once existed.

This tour is definitely a MUST DO for any true eco-tourist! Regularly observed birds in BSNWR: Belted KingFisher, Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Great Egret, Cormorant, and Brown Pelican. In addition to dolphins and the wildlife of the BSNWR, parts of the Bon Secour River, Oyster Bay, and the Intracoastal Waterway are also home to various commercial vessels, so keep on the lookout for cool shrimp boats, crab boats, tug boats and barges, also covered by the tour.

Led by experienced Coastal Nature Guides who will introduce you to the fauna, flora, and history of Gulf Shores and its local waterways.

Please Note: This tour was previously known as the "Dolphins at Sunset" or "Bon Secour National Wildlife Kayak Tour."

This tour is designed to meet every level of angler from beginner to pro. Discover one of the fastest growing sports in one of the most pristine areas on the Gulf Coast. Bon Secour offers a unique blend of nature and fast paced fishing. Kayak fishing allows for a more direct interaction between the fisherman and the hooked fish. Touring the Bon Secour refuge allows for the opportunity to see other wildlife such as dolphins, turtles and many shorebirds. Tour focuses on practicing conservation and minimal impact to the environment. All trips are catch and release unless otherwise pre-arranged. If you want to keep your catch, there is a fish cleaning service with a portion of the fee donated to local conservation groups.

At the beginning of every tour, there will be a safety briefing with a general description of the area, description of the tides and weather, and how to use your equipment properly. Once on the water your guides will cover how to properly kayak, scout a fishing spot, and set up and fish at your chosen spot. These experts will be there answer any questions as well as ensure your safety and fun. The diversity of these trips make any one of them a perfect choice for the whole family to add to your vacation or create a local memory.

You will receive complete instruction on paddling and using your craft as well as fishing techniques that are related to the species of fish that will be targeted.

Tour guides are all lifelong fisherman but most importantly they are students of the environment. This allows not only for the fishing experience of a lifetime but the unique opportunity to gain detailed insight of the plant and animal species you will encounter, habitats you will be a part of, and conservation efforts to protect these.

Your kayak adventure offers unique times to explore as well as fish. The morning trip allows you to take advantage of the morning bite as well as view the sunrise.
